Creating your account and first login

Getting started with FilterWise is quick and straightforward. This guide walks you through account creation, email verification, and your first login.

Sign Up Options

FilterWise offers two ways to create an account:

  1. Email and password: Enter your email address and choose a password. You'll receive a confirmation email to verify your account.

  2. Google Sign-In: Click "Continue with Google" to use your existing Google account. No password needed, and your account is verified instantly.

Step-by-Step: Email Sign Up

  1. Go to filterwise.io/auth
  2. Click Sign up if you see the login form
  3. Enter your email address
  4. Choose a strong password (at least 6 characters)
  5. Click Create account
  6. Check your email for a verification link
  7. Click the link to verify your account
  8. You'll be redirected to the FilterWise dashboard

Important: You must verify your email before you can sign in. If you don't see the verification email, check your spam folder. You can request a new verification email from the login page.

Step-by-Step: Google Sign Up

  1. Go to filterwise.io/auth
  2. Click Continue with Google
  3. Select your Google account or sign in
  4. You'll be immediately redirected to the dashboard — no email verification needed

First Login Experience

When you log in for the first time, FilterWise walks you through a quick setup wizard:

  1. Choose your language: Select your preferred interface language (English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, or Italian). This also affects automated email notifications.

  2. Choose your filter type: Do you receive listing alert emails, or do you browse websites directly? This determines whether your first filter uses email forwarding or website monitoring.

  3. Write your filter instructions: Describe what you're looking for in plain language. You can always edit this later.

  4. Set your output email: Where should matching listings be forwarded? Typically your personal email.

The setup wizard is optional — you can skip any step and configure everything later from the dashboard.

Your Dashboard

After completing setup (or skipping it), you land on your dashboard. Here you'll see:

  • Stat cards: Quick overview of emails received, listings checked, and matches found
  • Your filters: Each filter shows its status, input type, and recent activity
  • Getting started guide: A step-by-step guide to help you configure your first filter

Account Security

  • Your password is securely hashed — FilterWise never stores plain text passwords
  • Sessions are managed with secure tokens that expire automatically
  • You can reset your password at any time from the login page
  • Two-factor authentication is handled by your email provider (for email/password accounts) or Google (for Google sign-in)

Troubleshooting

"Account already exists" error: An account with this email already exists. Try signing in instead, or use the "Forgot password" link.

Verification email not received: Check your spam/junk folder. The email comes from FilterWise. If you still don't see it, try signing up again or use Google sign-in.

Can't sign in after verification: Make sure you're using the exact email address you signed up with. Passwords are case-sensitive.
