Setting up your output email
Your output email is the destination where FilterWise sends matched listings. This guide covers how to set it up, test it, and troubleshoot delivery issues.
What Is the Output Email?
The output email is the email address where listings that pass your AI filter are forwarded. It's the final step in the FilterWise process:
- Listing comes in (via email or scan)
- AI analyzes it against your instructions
- If it matches → forwarded to your output email
Typically, this is your personal email — the inbox you check every day.
Setting Your Output Email
- Open your filter from the dashboard
- Scroll to Step 3: Output email
- Enter the email address where you want matches sent
- Click Save filter
You can use any email address:
- Your personal Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc.
- A work email
- A shared family email
- A dedicated property-search email you've created
Important: Do NOT use your FilterWise input email address as your output email. This would create a loop (matched listings would be forwarded back to FilterWise and re-analyzed infinitely).
Testing Your Output Email
Before relying on your filter, test that forwarding works:
- In your filter, make sure you have:
- At least one email received (or a scan completed)
- A filter instructions configured
- An output email set
- In the test panel, extract listings from an email
- Run the AI analysis on a listing
- If the listing matches, click Test: Forward matching listing
- Check your output email inbox for the forwarded listing
If you don't receive the test email within a few minutes, check the troubleshooting section below.
What Forwarded Emails Look Like
When FilterWise forwards a matched listing, the email contains:
- Subject line: The listing's title or a summary
- Listing details: Key information (price, surface, rooms, location)
- Original listing link: Click to view the property on the portal
- AI analysis summary: Which criteria matched and the AI's overall reasoning
- FilterWise dashboard link: View the full analysis in your dashboard
The email is formatted as clean HTML and reads well on both desktop and mobile devices.
Changing Your Output Email
You can change your output email at any time:
- Open your filter
- Update the email address in Step 3
- Click Save filter
The change takes effect immediately for all future matches. Previously forwarded emails remain in the old email inbox.
Multiple Filters, Different Outputs
Each filter has its own output email. You can use:
- The same email for all filters (all matches go to one inbox)
- Different emails for different filters (e.g., personal search → personal email, investment search → work email)
Troubleshooting Delivery Issues
Not Receiving Forwarded Emails
1. Check your spam/junk folder FilterWise emails sometimes get caught by spam filters, especially the first time. Check your spam folder and mark the email as "Not spam."
2. Add FilterWise to your contacts Add the FilterWise sending address to your contacts or address book. This tells your email provider the sender is trusted.
3. Check your email provider's filters Some email providers (especially corporate ones) have strict filtering rules. Check if your IT department or email provider blocks emails from unknown senders.
4. Verify the email address Double-check for typos in your output email address. A single character error means emails go nowhere.
5. Check your how to receive matches Make sure your how to receive matches is set to "Instant" or "Daily Recap" — if it's set to "None," no emails will be sent.
Emails Arrive Late
- Immediate mode: Emails should arrive within 1-2 minutes of analysis. Delays beyond that are usually on the receiving email provider's side.
- Daily recap: Emails are sent at 10 PM your local time. If you haven't received one by 10:30 PM, check spam.
Emails Look Broken
If the email formatting looks wrong:
- Try viewing it in a different email client
- Some older email clients don't render modern HTML well
- The content is still accurate even if the formatting is imperfect
Best Practices
- Use a personal email you check regularly — the whole point is to receive time-sensitive notifications
- Avoid corporate emails with strict spam filters unless you can whitelist FilterWise
- Set up a filter in your email client to label or sort FilterWise emails into a dedicated folder
- Test before committing — send a test forwarding to verify delivery before setting up all your portal alerts
