Adding websites for automatic scanning
Website monitoring filters let FilterWise automatically visit real estate websites and extract new listings for you — no email forwarding needed. This guide explains how to add, test, and manage websites.
What is a Website?
A website is the address of a search results page on a real estate portal. For example, a filtered search on SeLoger showing 2+ bedroom apartments in Paris 11th for under €500,000. FilterWise visits this page daily, extracts any new listing URLs, and runs them through your AI filter.
Adding Your First Source
- Open your website monitoring filter from the dashboard
- Scroll to the Websites section
- Click Add website
- Paste the URL of a search results page
- The source is added and ready for scanning
Choosing Good Websites
The quality of your websites directly affects the quality of results:
✅ Good websites:
- Search result pages with applied location and basic filters
- Pages that show a list of multiple property listings
- URLs that work in an incognito/private browser window
- Pages sorted by newest first (when the portal supports it)
❌ Bad websites:
- Portal homepages (no listings to extract)
- Individual listing pages (only one property)
- Pages requiring login to view
- URLs with session tokens that expire
For detailed guidance on choosing the best URLs for each portal, see Choosing the right URLs.
Testing a Source
Before relying on a source, test it:
- After adding the URL, click Scan now on that source
- Wait for the scan to complete (typically 30-60 seconds)
- Check the results:
- Listings found: How many listing URLs were extracted
- Status: Whether the scan succeeded
- Blocked: Whether the site blocked the scraper
If the scan finds 0 listings, the URL might be wrong or the site might block automated access. Try a different URL or switch to the email filter for that portal.
How Automatic Scanning Works
Once a source is added and enabled:
- Daily scan: FilterWise automatically scans all your enabled sources once per day
- New listing detection: The system compares found listings against your history and only processes new ones
- AI analysis: Each new listing is analyzed against your filter instructions, just like email-sourced listings
- Notification: Matched listings are forwarded according to your notification settings
Manual Scanning
You can trigger manual scans at any time:
- Single source: Click Scan now on any individual source
- All sources: Click Scan all sources to scan everything at once
Manual scans are unlimited and free — they never touch your quota.
Managing Sources
Enable/Disable
Toggle the switch next to any source to enable or disable it. Disabled sources are not included in the daily automatic scan but remain in your list for future use.
Delete
Click the delete icon to permanently remove a source. Listings that were already extracted from this source remain in your dashboard.
Source Statuses
- Processed: Last scan completed successfully
- Queued: Waiting to be scanned
- Processing: Currently being scanned
- Error: Last scan encountered an error
- Blocked: The site's anti-bot protection prevented scanning
Scanning Limits
There are none. Site scans are unlimited on every plan, including Free — most scans run through our own browser and cost nothing, so there is no reason to ration them. Add as many sites as you like and rescan them whenever you want.
What is metered is the AI analysis of each listing found, because that is the part that has a real cost. See Plans and limits.
Viewing Scanned Listings
Listings found through scanning appear in your Listings page alongside email-sourced listings. They're marked with a source indicator so you can distinguish their origin.
You can also see per-source statistics:
- Last listings: Number of listings found in the most recent scan
- Total listings: Cumulative listings found from this source
Tips for Effective Scanning
- Start with 2-3 sources: Begin with your most important search criteria and add more once you've confirmed they work
- Use filtered search pages: Apply location and basic price filters on the portal to reduce noise
- Sort by newest: If the portal supports sorting by date, use that URL — it ensures you see the freshest listings
- Check for blocks: Some sites actively block scrapers. If a source shows "Blocked" status, switch to email forwarding for that portal
- Don't duplicate: Adding the same search results page twice doesn't help — the system deduplicates listings automatically
